I am planning on bringing t shirt to sell in nairobi/ kenya. Will bring it with me by air. How much shall I pay for the clearance? Do I need special assistance from the agent? Pierre
I take it your t-shirts aren't made of pure gold or laced with purer cocaine, so then you should be able to import according to standard customs rules. You'll need to pay an import duty, and as it's Kenya, you may even need to bribe somebody.
As a kenyan living in Europe i was sickened and disgusted when pulled aside, had my luggage runsacked and charged tax on a few clothes and shoes i bought for my mother. I hadnt been home in a long time and vow never to carry any gifts or bribe the shameless corrupt so called excuse of Kenyan immigration people. To add injury, i was targeted as a black person by my supposedly black fellow citizens!!!! I now travel light and would rather donate the money to a local charity than lace the pockets of corrupt greedy officials. A disgrunted Kenyan in Ireland

If I come to thru Nairobi airport and am comeing to work for 6 months can I bring with me a Copenhagen chewing tobacco? and what if I bring in 20 cans in my luggage, will I get in trouble?
If you have brought any gifts for other people below $500 then you do not pay tax. What I like to do is take out the labels and plastic bags and pack them in as part of my own luggage.
All you have to do is smile and don't be aggressive I have never had to bribe any customs person because my shopping is always "about $300 or less" normally I can't recall.

Have a look through the Kenyan Embassy import/export handbook for more info.
