Do we have to pay for our son to go to school in the UK or are there options to go to school with no fees like here in Canada?

Hello we are thinking of moving to the UK for my husband to teach. I was also going to look for work so that we have two incomes but then we found out that anyone coming to the UK that is not a European citizen has to pay for their child to go to school. This is a huge concern because we aren't sure we will earn enough at first to afford our life expenses as well as school fees. Is this definitely something we will have to deal with or can Canadian kids attend school with no fees? I have had a hard time finding much information on this, which surprises me because of how it impacts a family budget. Any information will be of so much help. Thank you Marissa Hatt
