We are planning a one week trip to Portugal in January 2015.Does my wife need an Portugese visa (schengen visa) for this short trip or can she travel with me as long as we carry a copy of our marriage certificate?as well as does we require hotel accomodation proof & travel insurance required must ? Pls do the needful.

Hi Ashwin,

Generally, Indian passport holders do require I a schengen visa to travel to Portugal, even for a short period of time. I am not familiar with the type of residence permit your wife holds and whether this changes the situation. The best thing to do would be to contact the Portuguese consulate/embassy and get some more information.

For information on schengen visas you can read the Visas for Portugal page.

Good luck
