What's the difference between a non-resident and a resident bank account in Spain, and what documents will I need for each. If I'm an EU citizen (British) do I automatically qualify for a non-resident account?

Hi there, Non-resident are less taxed. You are a non-resident when within a fiscal year you live less than 6 months in Spain, or still did not obtain a NIE or Residencia. More details in my article "Resident or Non-resident": http://moving2madrid.com/2011/11/expat-tips-tax-spain-madrid/ (copy and paste in your address bar). For all the details about obtaining the best non-resident or resident bank accounts, I recommend you read my detailed post: http://moving2madrid.com/2011/11/best-bank-account-madrid/ (copy and paste in your address bar).
