Is it legal for India's Income Tax dept. to ask for a detailed listing of my assets?

Is it legal for India's Income Tax dept. to ask for a detailed listing of my US assets? I am a US citizen, but tax-resident in India. I submit my US taxes to the Indian authorities, which reports all income I derive from these assets. My belief is that that should be enough, since the IRS would keep an eye on my assets themselves.
