How easy it to meet and connect with Dutch people? Are the friendly and welcoming to expats?

Expats in the Netherlands often criticise the Dutch for being closed to new arrivals. People don't just pop around - its more usual to make an appointment - and the office culture can be difficult to penetrate. Expats nearly always say that other expats are their closest friends. Certainly having children or a big passion for a sport or activitry makes it much easier to meet others. Its also a good plan to meet people online on forums and then connect in person.

Dutch people are very friendly and open. But they want to invest in meaningful relations with others. So no fake friendly behavior, the typical i've encountered in so many other countries. But the problem is that many expats do not try to be part of local life. They stick to an attitude of: "i'm only here for work." If you want to be part of the community you should come out of your office and make contact. Learn the language and join local life. then you'll find real friendship. Dutch people will help and support you even in the most difficult times of your life.

Dutch are friendly and quite easy going as compared to other parts of Europe. They are practical and straightforward. Expat should make a move for friendship, and will have several friends in no time...
