Could someone please advise on the best private schools/colleges in Sydney. We are going to live in Sydney in September and need to enroll our 17 year old daughter for the start of the next term. She has completed her A's level and would be completing her A levels in September if still in the UK. We believe she may have to step back a year to do her HSC level in Australia. Is there any international schools which would enable her to finish her final year of A level, as she would prefer to do this. We have little knowledge of the area so would appreciate any feedback.

Hi Shantalie, since looking into the educatinal system we have decided to let our daughter finish her education in the UK, which will be her last A level year as it was not ideal to expect her to start from year 11 again. Many thanks

Hi Michelle,

While there are lots of IB schools in Sydney, there don't seem to be any that follow the British National Curriculum. With Australia being an English-speaking country, there isn't that much of a demand for British schools unlike in other expat destinations.

Obviously, with your daughter being in her final year of schooling it would be quite distruptive to have her change the curriculum she is studying. It might be an idea to look into e-learning or distance learning A-level courses.

For a general overview of the education options available in Sydney check out the Educationa and Schools in Sydney page.

Good luck

Hi Michelle,

I think that makes sense. It might be an idea for her finish up her studies in the UK and then look into applying for university in Australia. I studied in the UK and know quite a few people that went overseas to do their degrees.

Best of luck
