Hi there
Thanks for the responses Xavier. I might actually stay in Cyprus for a year or two. The obvious choice would be to rent, but I was thinking about investing in property with my sister- having a nice house to retire at by the sea wouldn't be the worst thing.
Any thoughts?
JK

Sounds like things are getting interesting. It is a good time to buy in Cyprus, if you have the funds. I would warn you though, if you're wanting to rent the place out, it may stand empty for a while and you probably won't get what it would be worth under normal circumstances.
I'd be very careful if you're looking to buy in North Cyprus, since you may be the subject of a landclaim at some point. There are also horror stories about being stuck with developer mortgages.
My advice would be to rent for a while, have a proper look around and get a lawyer before doing anything concrete.
Have a look at our Accommodation in Cyprus and Buying Property in Cyprus pages for more detail.
Keep those questions coming.
All the best,
Xavier
