Any tips for finding good rental properties in Melbourne. I'm moving there with my husband and two year old in four months time and we've yet to set anything up.

My advice would be to come across a month before you're supposed to arrive, and set-up as many appointments as possible through various real estate agents. The rental market in Melbourne is pretty saturated, but new properties still appear nearly every day, so its just a matter of looking. Find something with a six-month lease and then use that time to scope out better accommodation options for your and your family in Melbourne.

Keep in mind that viewing flats is kind of a strangity, in Melbourne. The realtors set up 15 minute “inspection” times and you end up viewing properties with several other people. It is frustrating dealing with this process, but it's just the way it is.
