Hello, I am anticipating a job offer in the Netherlands, in Arnhem or Groningen, mainly doing work with the Groningen earthquakes. I am a structural engineer with about 8 years of experience. I am trying to figure out what kind of pay to expect. From what I can tell wages in the Netherlands are significantly lower than in the US while taxes are significantly higher. Is that an accurate assessment? Would I be able to ask for a salary of over 65,000 Euros a year? This is what I calculate to make a comparable salary to the US, even with the 30% tax exemption. Does anyone know much about engineering salaries in the Netherlands? I will be bringing a particular skill set, seismic engineering, that is currently needed in the Groningen region. Thanks!
