I will be an expat wife and would like to continue my work in Jakarta come september.
I am a mural artist with a unique style and would potentially employ local artists .
I would like to work commercially and privately. Whether I form a company( i have a small one here in london) or I go self employed, how can I go about this with permits, visas etc?
Looking forward to hearing some thoughts, websites to look at etc.
thank you

Hello Clarissa,
With your spouse visa you are not allowed to work in Indonesia (or at least you are not allowed to be paid for your work). Forming your own company would be a very long, painful and expensive process.
However, you may find someone willing to employ you and then you would get your own visa.
However, most of artists and crafts people find a way. Contact local women organizations such as BWA, AWA or ANZA and they will help you find contacts once you are there

from what I know you won't be able to work with the spouse visa, and having your company will be considered a PMA (foreign owned company) which requires a great deal of $ for initial investment. Go free lance first or join an art club as a start.
