Hi Jose, the Form I-29 is a form that an employee fills out to petition for a foreign employee to come to the US to work or receive training as a non-immigrant worker. So it's essentially for those who will be working in the US for the short term, not necesarily to emigrate there. The employer has to file this form with the USCIS, and does so on behalf of the employee.

To read more about visas and working legally in the US, have a read of our Visas for the USA page and Work Permits for the USA.

Good luck with your new job! I hope everything works our for you!

Hi all This might impact your plans too. I've just read that FACTA (the Foreign Accounts Compliance Act) requires every US citizen to inform the IRS of the details of all overseas investments and bank accounts they hold. This includes individuals that hold dual citizenship and perhaps have not lived in America for some time. FACTA will come into full force from the 1st of January 2014. You can read the full thing here, so as to get the full picture- http://www.prycewarner.com/news-expats-in-us-could-lose-green-cards-270.html
