Where to live in Johannesburg?

Hey guys! We are moving to Johannesburg in a couple of months. We have already started to look for an accomodation but your help would be highly appreciated. My husband´s workplace is situated in Benoni. Our daughter will turn three in September so we will would like to find an international pre-school for her. Could you please advise me a nice and safe area within a reasonable distance? We have even been told to look for a place to stay, for safety reasons, in Pretoria itself. What do you think of it?
