Is Islamic Studies compulsory in Dubai?

My kid is 5 years old and will need to start schooling in Dubai ( if we decide to move to Dubai, that is). I have read that Islamic studies is compulsory even for international private schools in Dubai. As we are non-Muslim, I would like to know if we will have no choice but to enroll my kid for this subject? Alternatively, could someone advise from what grade is Islamic Studies compulsory? Thank you!
