If you're coming on your own, I would recommend Seefeld which is close to the lake and the shops. If you're bringing your family along with you, I would recommend towns along the Gold Coast such as Küsnacht or Zollikon, or on the Silver Coast such as Kilchberg.
Hope that helps :)
Hi, we are being transfered to zurich, we are older couple who enjoy downtown life and waterfront areas need to be able.to get to airport easly. Any suggestion for housing.

Try the Seefeld area (District 8). It's close to shops and the waterfront, and is a 20-minute drive to the Zurich International Airport on a good day. Otherwise the city centre (District 1) is popular with expats for its history and because it's so central.
Kanton zug is only 20 mins outside of zurich and is much more international. You can go to lucerne or zurich as it sits about half way between. The taxes for expats in zug are the best in the country with rates as low as single digits... Rents are high, but not as extreme as many areas in zurich. We have been here for several years and have lived in both cities, and prefer zug. There are many international schools to teach at or for private firms offering business language support. Do your research and make the decision based on what is best for you, and not what others tell you. No subsitute for experiencing it yourself.
Hello,
what do you think:
which is the best city to live in Switzerland?
where is the best place to rent an appartment in Geneva ( which neighborhood)?
which city is the most calm one for living?
Honestly, share with us how do people find a job in Switzerland ? do they rely on some luck or on their connections? What is the truth abut this lovely country?
Please be honest.
I moved over from the states without any real game plan, found a job and settled down without too much trouble.
I now see that they're considering the introduction of a specific tax for us expats and the reason I've posted here is to learn as much as I can about it!
Has anyone heard of this yet?
Thanks in advance.
PS In case you want to read more, here's the link to the report I saw last week sometime, (hope it helps)-
