I'm going to teach English in South Korea and was wondering if I should hire a relocation company or tackle the job myself? Any advice from fellow expats living in Seoul?
Yes, definitely recommend using a relocation to move to South Korea, unless you're travelling nomad-style with a backpack and a big smile. There's plenty of companies available, and sometime the hiring school will even finance this service and organise. It's definitely worth looking into before you foot the bill.
Relocation companies handle all the paperwork, deal with all the records and communicate on your behalf in a language you most likely don't speak. They're well familiar with the immigration procedure, so if you want to save a headache you should certainly use one.
That said, check out expat forums and speak to your school to find a reputable option.
