As an expat is it possible to be approved for a credit card in Israel? Up until this point I've been using my US credit card and then paying off the debt with a US checking account; but as you can prob imagine, this proves rather difficult from abroad - especially when you're earning Israeli Shekel...
Most banks don't approve Israeli credit cards if you don't have at least 3 months of job history on the books - meaning you don't have proof that three paychecks have automatically been deposited in your account. Some bank will approve you for a credit card if you have a large fixed sum in your account. And in some cases - and especially if you're incredibly convincing and good-looking, you can make an appointment with the bank manager and plead for approval. Though banking rules are strict in Israel, most managers have the power to wave the laws if they see a reason to do so.
