Please help me in getting information on various mandatory taxes to be paid if I work in Brussels? What kind of tax structure should be opted for, to work in Brussels?

Hi Akshay, expats will generally become tax residents of Belgium, and are therefore subject to Belgian tax on their worldwide income. But taxes on cost of living allowances, housing allowances and tax equalisation allowances may be exempted within certain limits...have a look at our Banking, Money and Taxes in Belgium page to read more.

My IT consulting firm in Munich is eager to place me in Brussels. I've no acquaintances in Brussels and hence this post to make a good decision. I'd be happy to know some experiences to best bcompare with Germany: - Taxes (for single) in Belgium compared to Germany, - Living cost (e.g: house rent, food etc.), - Any particular language barriers (in Germany for example it can get tough to switch jobs without at least intermediate German language proficiency). All feedback / opinions are welcome and appreciated. Thanks for your time! (mail id: [email protected])
