Hi, Ive been offered a job and am moving to work in Tai wai i have been told that if i want a house and garden i should live in Tai Po, which is comutable. Just wondered how easy it is to communicate and to get around, having never been before. I'm curious about the health care system and social netwroks i.e is it easy to go to the cinema? Any information and help you could give would be great, im very excited about the move but nervous :-) Thanks Shoned

As a start have a look at our moving to Hong Kong page and the culture shock in Hong Kong page and have a browse through the linked pages to get a general feel for living in Hong Kong.

In general I think you'll find Hong King to be a world-class city with good public transport, excellent healthcare and good entertainment options.

Try sites like Necescity.com (for men) or Sassy Hong Kong (for women) to ease into local culture.

Just a thought, try the website mentioned below to find property in Hong Kong. I used them and they could give advice for anyone completely new to Hong Kong like I was a year ago. They can advise on what are the best places to stay with regards to your place of work, preferred transport type, housing type etc etc. They cover listings in many locations throughout Hong Kong so they know many areas well and should be useful.
