I'm thinking of taking up a teaching contract at a university in Stockholm but I've heard the cost of living in Sweden is very high, and I'm not sure my salary will cover everything. I've got two kids who will need to go to a good school, which is an additional worry....Anyone got any insights?
Since you're working at a university, I would suggest asking some of your colleagues for schooling suggestions - they might have some insights about which schools produce the best students, for example.
Do you want to send them to an international/English speaking school, a biligual school or a Swedish school? There aren't many schools licensed to teach in English in Stockholm, so if you are emigrating permanently you might consider a biligual Swedish school. Otherwise the United States Embassy website has a list of English schools in Stockholm, including Tanto (www.tantoschool.org) the British International Primary School (www.britishinternationalprimaryschool.se) or Stockholm International School (www.intsch.se).
