Is it possible and where do I find information on retiring in Ghana? I believe that having Social Security direct deposited in international banks is approved and acceptable. My wife is from Ghana and I would like to relocate there to be with her and my family. Is this a major undertaking? Is immigration too much to deal with for me to live and retire in Ghana? Or is it recommended that I bring my family from Ghana to the USA?
If your wife is a Ghanaian citizen you should be able to move to Ghana with her on a dependency visa. I suggest you contact the Ghanaian embassy in the states (www.ghanaembassy.org) and find out what documentation you would require. You might also ask if they can recommend a travel consultant with whom you could discuss your options.
Are you wanting to work for a while first before you retire? If so have a look at the Working in Ghana page as a start.
If you are an American citizen, you should have no trouble emigrating to Ghana especially if you can show that you have enough assets/funds that you will not be a burden on the state. Your family will have a much harder time emigrating from Ghana to the US. If you're looking for easy, it sounds to me like moving to Ghana is your best option.
