Hi guys

I'm relocating to Egypt from the UK at the end of the year and would like to know what the public transport is like in the country. I think it would be fine in Cairo where I'm living, but what about getting from city to city?

Are there trains and buses etc? Or would I need a car?

Any comments would be a big help.

Thanks

Hi Sally

Public transport in Egypt is relatively good, you should be able to take a train, bus or domestic flight between most cities in Egypt. You can even travel by boat along the Nile River. It is not necessary to have a car to travel in Egypt, in fact, driving in Egypt can be a rather stressful experience.

For more information about how to get around Egypt have a look at this page on Transport and driving in Egypt.

I hope this helps.

Egypitian buses have a terrible safety record...I'd be careful of travelling long distance on one!
