Hi I have heard that there is a limitation for the living allowance (exempt of tax) in terms of % of the basic salary, something like: living allowance <33% of the basic salary Is this correct? If so, why is that? Thanks!

Hello, Do I need to provide any receipts to claim the living allowance as well as housing allowance in China mainland? Or if it's stated in the offer of employment, I just assume I will get it full and use it as/if I want? THank you for clarification

Hi Anonymous,

Whether you are expected to provide receipts will depend on the company. You should check with HR about the companies requirements.

Good luck

Do you know if an accommodation stipend is tax deductible? According to the accountancy department at my office, I have to pay the same tax as that I pay on my salary. What are the so called "tax deductible allowances" then?
