Hi guys
I am moving to South Africa for a while to do some charity work and have a choice between moving to Johannesburg or moving to Cape Town. Since I'm not gonna be earning a lot, it would be really helpful to know which one has lower living costs.
I'd appreciate any help I could get.
Thanks,
Sal

It's generally held that people in Johannesburg earn more than people in Cape Town, but that people in Cape Town have a better quality of life because of the abundance of natural beauty and activities available (Johannesburgers might disagree).
That said, there are things to do in Johannesburg, and you don't have to go too far to see natural beauty outside of the city either. The gap between salaries also seems to be shrinking.
To help with your decision, I'd suggest looking at our at our guides as a whole, because cost of living shouldn't be the sole determining factor. You can start with Moving to Johannesburg and Moving to Cape Town.
Both cities need all the volunteers they can get, so wherever you go, you'll be making a difference.
Good luck!
