My office (a financial service) will be in Crown Road, Fordsburg, Johannesburg.Can you please suggest an area where I can live? how much will be the rent? and what will be the living cost for me, my wife and my newborn boy? I will receive R 12000/ month as foreign allowance and my salary (approx. ZAR 30000/month) will be received in my home country. I don't wanna bring any money from my salary back home, rather want to use the foreign allowance to live in JHB so that I can amass a good amount from my salary which I will receive in my country. Please help.

You'll have a wide variety of options when it comes to finding suitable accomodation, whether you find somewhere will depend on the standard of living you're after. Have a look at our Areas and Suburbs of Johannesburg page, which gives an overview on some of the suburbs which are most popular with expats.

Hi amfaisal, if you're going to be working in Fordsburg, I'd consider areas such as Emmarentia, Greenside, Parkview, Melville, Auckland Park. These are all lovely residential areas not too far from Fordsberg.
