Everything I read says you need a car to get around in JHB, but does this apply to your own local area too? Such as walking to the local shop/store, or to a neighbour's house or to a cafe or a park. I love to walk with my children and am hoping that I am not stuck in a car for every single journey. Give me some tips about areas which would work for me as a pedestrian

Hi Pam, you can definitely walk around your neighbourhood if living in a residential area. Walking to the shops or to visit a neighbour is really not unsafe. It's just always best to be alert - and definitely rather avoid walking at night.
