Philippines: Where do I start?

Expert Info

Submitted by Anth0ny01 on
Destination: Philippines
I'm thinking of moving to the Philippines but I can't help but think of the life I might be giving up in my home country, Jamaica. Which parts of the Philippines are the safest? Does each house have clean drinking water & electricity available? Are faeces and urine paper and plastics handled responsibly and away from open sources of water to prevent pollution and infection? Is it easy to get a job after moving or is the job market preferential to locals? What if I learned to speak the language - will I still not be able to get the job because I'm not local?

Is it possible to homeschool your children in Tunisia?

Expert Info

Submitted by Beverley67 on
Destination: Tunisia
I am moving to Tunisia in September 2016 with 4 of my children. The two youngest will go to the British International School but I have a problem regarding my two oldest. One of them has just completed her GCSE's and the other would be going into year 10. I have looked at a number of online options which would enable them to continue their studies through distance learning. However I am getting conflicting information as to whether this is allowed in Tunisia or whether children have to attend a school of some sort. Please could someone give me any up to date information. Thanks

Hi dear expats. Actually we are living in Abu Dhabi since many years but we're planning to move to Dubai because of our work. The work location is in Oud Metha and our kids schools is at Muhaisna (the LLFP school). I'd like to know which area is good to live in Dubai against the traffic conjunction and must be a bit quiet and located in an intermediate distance between the work (Oud Metha) and the school LLFP (Muhaisna). We are married with 3 girls of 9,7, and 4 years old. Please help. we need your advice to choose a calm place but not far and with a reasonable rent.

Can I enter Romania on a US passport without visa and apply for work permit once there?

Hi, I am an American citizen and moving to Romania for my new job. I spoke with someone in the Romanian Embassy in the U.S. yesterday about work permits and long-stay visas, but I just wanted to triple check I had understood her correctly. As a US citizen she said I do not need a long-stay visa to enter the country, but that I go ahead and enter on my passport and then once I am in Bucharest I will go to the immigration office to apply for the work permit. Is this true and did I understand what she told me? Thanks so much for your help!

Hi there,

I've been planning a move to the UK for quite a while and I finally have a job sorted and I'm looking to move to London in September. However, I'm having second thoughts following Brexit. I'm Polish and I have lots of family and friends who've moved to the UK for work. They always said great things but I've been reading that there is now a lot of bad sentiment towards the Poles in London. I heard some racists defaced a Polish community centre after the referendum. It sounds awful?

Hi there,

I'm an artist moving to Berlin for inspiration. I want to know which areas I should look for accommodation in. I'm in my 20s and my budget isn't huge so I need to find an affordable place.

Also what are the best ways to find accommodation ? Do I look online or do I need to pay a agent to help me? I don't speak German so I wouldn't really know where to start.

Please help!

I am Alfred, currently residing in Toronto. I am getting married soon. But I am not a Canadian citizen. I just need to know, is there any legal consequences in the marriage of people of different nationalities? Also, I need to know about getting Canadian citizenship. Should I consult any law firms like Max Berger Professional Law Corporation, Toronto to get Canadian citizenship?

Her due date is in August, so I will be taking her with me.Since baby will be born in Australia What are the docs needed for the baby to get back to India along with mother? What are the minimum necessary docs for an infant to travel in general? In that case, what about baby's status in Australia? Will the immigration authorities at Australian airport let the baby (born in Australia) go out of the country without any documentation? Appreciate any guidance on this topic

It's great that I found this forum where I can get help on making the decision to move to Dublin with family. I am based out of India and moving to Dublin in a couple of months. It's a permanent move and therefore I would like advice on following items:

1. I would like to know how much my net take-home salary will be after tax?

2. Can I save on tax if I am the only earning member in the family?

Hi there, I am now working in Hong Kong for a Swiss company but I am also required to travel often to Shanghai and work at the office in Shanghai. Currently I have a Hong Kong work permit. If I have to work for at least 180 days in Shanghai and I would need to have a China work permit, does it mean that I have to move and live in Shanghai so that I could get the China work permit or Z-visa? Also, is it possible to have Hong Kong work permit and China work permit simultaneously? I appreciate your answer. Thanks!

Hi there,

I'm due to start my MA programme in London in September. I'm from Spain and some of my funding is coming from the Erasmus+ Masters Loans Scheme which is supported by the EU. Will I still be eligable or will I need to put my plans on hold? How will Brexit effect students from the EU?

Is anyone in the same situation? I'm panicking. I've worked long and hard and it's my dream to study in London.

Please help.
