Who should I write a letter to in India for security protection?

Expert Info

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on
Destination: Bengaluru
I have been threatened by one person in Bangalore that I will be harmed when ever I come to Bangalore. He has some Goonda contacts and I am scared due to this threat to my life. I am of Indian origin but holding U. S. passport. I was informed by a friend that if I write to Ministry of External Affairs in Delhi and to different respective Chief Secretaries of concerned departments in India then that person who has threatened me will be contacted by the local police and will be given a strict warning.

Is Paris safe for expats following the terrorist attacks?

Expert Info

Destination: Paris
Hi there,

We were busy planning a move to Paris for the new year but following this weekends terrorist attacks we are seriously reconsidering the move.

Are there any expats in Paris that can comment on safety. Are tensions high following the attacks? Do you think people are fearful of follow-up attacks? What is the mood like in the city?

If you are currently in the city - what safety precautions are in place? Are certain areas out of bounds?

Your advice would be much appreciated.

Regards

Sally

Working on Business visa in Riyadh?

Hi I'm a British expat working for a Saudi subsidiary of a large British company. I'm new out here and having a few concerns i'm hoping people can put my mind at rest: 1. The company seems to be using almost entirely Business visas to employ British staff, as far as I was aware this is illegal? The response I get is ''everyone does it'' Am I legally employed? Would y contract revert to the UK company? Just how much of a risk is it? 2.

Getting into a good secondary school in Ireland?

Expert Info

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on
Destination: Ireland
We are an American family. My husband has Irish citizenship through descent; the rest of us do not. We are strongly considering relocating to Ireland in less than 2 years. I can take early retirement from my government job and have a reasonable pension. We can use other retirement funds to live off of, so working in Ireland is not essential (but we might eventually like to find some type of free-lance or odd job to do). Our youngest daughter, currently 14, is keen on finishing her secondary studies in Ireland and staying on through university and becoming a citizen.

Expert Info

Destination: Brussels
I'm a Canadian who has recently moved to Belgium on a Working Holidaymaker visa. As far as I understand the only restrictions on this type of work permit are such that I may not operate as a freelancer. However a friend and fellow expat told me that the "regime" of my visa may have other restrictions. What types of contracts am I allowed to take on under this visa type?

Hi all, I am Arthur working in Toronto, basically from Texas, USA. I am in an emergency and need to get back to my home town soon. But i have some bank loans pending here. So it is difficult to clear the immigration procedures. One of my friend suggested me Law Office of Matthew Jeffery, he is saying it will help to speed up the formalities. But it will be more comfortable if I can clear this without meeting a lawyer. Somebody please tell me some good solution.

Transfer of salary from Lagos Nigeria to UK?

Expert Info

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on
Destination: Lagos
My husband is an expat working in Lagos. We live in the UK and he usually gets his salary transferred straight from his company bank to his bank in the UK. This month there seems to be a problem. The bank (CNB) is refusing to transfer the money as supposedly something to do with money laundering since the new government came in. Obviously this is a problem as I need the money back in the UK. His company is at a loss at what to do (he works in a hotel - an independent). Do anyone have any idea what can be done as obviously if this is not sorted out he will just have to walk away from his job.

Hi all. I was wondering can you live a decent life in Germany if your salary is 1200eur netto? Would I be able to pay the rent (let's say I would like to rent a small smaaaall 1 room apartment, so no sharing), provide myself with the food (I would cook most of my meals but it would be nice knowing that I could be able to eat outside sometimes), buy cosmetics, go out sometimes, buy some clothes (I don't mean anything luxury).. All in all, run a normal life and afford myself modest but decent life. I was wondering would this be possible not only in small towns but also in bigger towns such as
