I will be working in Riyadh for a few weeks in May. On previous trips I was returned to my hotel each afternoon and remained there until collected the next morning, and all day on Friday. I was not allowed to use the pool, sit in area around the pool, eat in the hotel dining room (all meals in my room). As a woman on my own is there anywhere I can go when not working? I'm in my late 50s so not looking for a hectic social life, just something aside from sitting in my hotel room. Thanks

Does the abaya in Saudia Arabia have to be black? I am going out to meet my husband in Jubail and have been told I need an abaya, are there any restrictions on colour or weight of fabric (obviously not too flimsy)? The monthly gross salary is 26,840AED (inclusive of utilities and all), my family composition is 6 (2 adults and 4 kids) and an education allowance of 35,000AED per kid (from age 5 to 18yrs). Medical insurance and accomodation will be provided by the company. Considering my very conservative lifestyle, can I expect to save between 60-70% of the monthly salary?
