Hi, I was wondering if you could provide me with some information about salaries in Oman for an aquaculture/fisheries/agriculture expert. My dad has been offered a job in Oman and how ever he doesn't know what type of salary and benefits he should request. He has a PhD in fisheries/aquaculture/environmental science from the UK with 28 years of experience in the UK/Middle Eat. His UK salary is around £45,000 (around 25,000 OMR). What do you think he should realistically request in term of salary and benefits. Many Thanks

Hi, I just received an salary offer to move to Sohar, It´s 1234,50 OR as basic salary plus 575,5 OR for allowance per month. I´ll be taking my family with me, so what I really need to know is if that ammount of money is good enough to live in Oman with my familly. Can anyone give me an idea on how much do I need to have a decent life in Sohar and be able to save money for the future? Thank You very much.

How to respond to a 1099 sent to IRS? I have been in the Philippines since 2003. Before I left the States I paid all my balances and came to the Philippines. I had one credit card but paid that off. I called the credit card company in 2006 and the man said that my account had been closed in 2006 for none payment and the balance was written off. I did not know of any charges other than what I paid off.

We are a Norwegian family who are doing some research into moving to Thailand for a longer period. Our dream is to buy a small resort close to the beach. Not one of those 5 star resorts, but rather a 2-3 star bungalow resort. Preferably a "fix'r up'r". We have looked at locations as Lanta, Samui, Hua Hin etc. We seem to have fastened a bit on Lanta for several reasons, like, the Swedish school, prices on such properties and the fact that its not as busy as Samui or Hua Hin, with that referring to traffic and being able to drive ourselves.

However, I am not sure at all, whether I am allowed to apply for English teaching vacancies in Austria (Vienna), or not. I have an MA (university) degree in teaching English language and literature - I am a philologist. I graduated at a Hungarian institution. I have seven years of practice in teaching in public schools and 17 years of experience in private teaching, and in language exam preparations. Shall I take any international teachers' exams before applying?

I have been told that working in China, I must join the China Public health care system. I have read the one page that explains briefly about the system and opinions, but it is not clear. My company is willing to pay 80% of the fee which sounds okay. I will need to pay 200RMB per month for insurance. Is it really mandatory in Guangzhou for all staff to join? Is that normal? Are there better possible options for Foreign English teachers teaching in China?

I am curious about the criminal background check and if my record will prevent me from obtaining a work permit in Vietnam. In the guide on this site it states "Expats must not have a previous conviction for infringement of national security, must not be facing examination of penal liability and must not be serving a criminal penalty as prescribed by Vietnamese or foreign law." But on other sites it says a "clean" background check in needed. I have an assault charge for 7 years ago that resulted in $250 fine. Will this make it impossible for me to get a work permit?

I am a nurse that will be moving to Ireland in June, most likely going to work at Beaumont. What are some good family areas to live within commute distance of Beaumont? We have a 14yo, 4 1/2yo and a 3yo. We currently live in a small town and I commute into the city to work. Dear, I got a new academic job in a university in UAE, but I have read that the HBV positive cannot work in UAE. The regulations has been changed in Feb 2016 such that all newcomers will be tested and deported if they are HBV positive? is that true for all cases or just for the six categories?

Hello I'm moving to Nairobi as a kept man and I have read horror stories about cars being expensive in Kenya is this still true and if so is it smarter/ cheaper to bring our car with us (import)? The other issue I have (as my girlfriend has a job there and we have no children) what do I do all day, everyday, I normally work as a map maker (GIS), but again everything I've read says its very difficult (almost impossible) to find work once in Kenya and then get a visa, as all the international companies and organisations recruit from outside Kenya.
